OPERATIONAL SAFETY
Folding stairways are used for the safe access from a fixed platform to the top of road tankers and rail cars. For this it is necessary to position the manhole directly in front of the folding stairway. Where this is not possible, the moveable tracking device is a real benefit. With this device the folding stairway can be easily positioned at any place along the platform to provide the best access to the top of the compartment. The oversized rubber coated wheel bearings provide low friction, and easy operation.
The operational folding stairway is mounted onto the standard steel supporting structure, prepared following our recommendations with handrail cut-outs at the required intervals. In addition to this EMCO WHEATON provides specially developed self closing access gates.
