OVERFILL PREVENTION SYSTEM
Overfilling Fuel Tank

This system incorporates the latest fast response optic self-checking electronics to stop overfilling fuel tanks during bottom loading.

If the unit detects an overfill it will stop the flow, preventing a spill and saving the operator money.

It’s particularly effective when used alongside the long-established and widely used EMCO Wheaton bottom loading vapor recovery system.

Self-checking Electronics for Reliability

No Product Losses

Compatible with Other Systems

Features & Benefits

The system is composed of:

  • Probe/Cane
  • Socket
  • Grounding Bolt
  • Cable
  • Dummy (require for two-wire systems)

Once the system is installed and operational, an electronic sensor will automatically detect if fuel has reached maximum capacity during loading. If an overfill is found by the system, it will send a signal to stop the line’s flow. This is useful for bottom loading applications where it can be difficult to determine the volume of product when filling each compartment.

There’s an option to fit two or five wires. Two-wire systems are for tankers with up to eight compartments and are compatible with a 10-pin socket only, while the five-wire systems can accommodate to 12 compartments with 6- and 10-pin socket only.

Other features include:

  • Fluoro-elastomer seals compatible with petroleum products
  • Housing protection to IP66 with impact rating better than 09 (10 joule impact) for maximum durability
  • Compatible with all known systems on the market

Technical Info

Probe/Cane

  • Available in 7-inch (135 to 180mm), 12-inch (278.752 to 325.25mm), 15-inch (355 to 400mm) and 18-inch (431.20 to 476.20mm) lengths
  • Fast response optic sensor detection
  • Borosilicate glass prism resistant to fuels and solvents
  • Two gland ports with M20x1.5 threads (PG16 and NPT threads available as options)
  • ATEX Certified probe for use in zone zero flammable hazard area with group IIA gas
  • Probe also available for sale as an aftermarket product

Socket

  • API compatible, allowing interface with all known optic control monitor plugs
  • For use with two-wire sensors and five-wire sensors
  • Includes ground connection pin
  • Hard anodised aluminium construction
  • Four J-slots (10 pin) and three J-slots (6 pin) sockets available

Grounding Bolt

  • Prevents loading if not properly connected
  • Stops the loading operation automatically if the ground bolt breaks

Cable

  • Overall Diameter: 7.2 ± 0.3 mm
  • Temperature range: -40°C + 90°C
  • Five wire (5 core) and two wire (7 core) cable available
  • Conductor colours five wire: white grey, blue, green, yellow
  • Two wire black and white

Dummy (required for two-wire systems)

  • Simulates up to seven compartments
  • Inverse polarity protection
  • Compatible with all known two-wire controllers

Applications

This product is a key safety feature that prevents overfilling fuel tanks when bottom loading trucks.

It’s used throughout the world by oil majors and transporters of fuel petroleum products.

Aftermarket

This product is durable and in most cases is ‘fit and forget’.

But it’s important to keep such a vital piece of equipment working properly, which is why our team is on hand to troubleshoot any problems you may have. EMCO Wheaton can also offer spares if the system’s components wear over time.
